The 23rd Alanya International Festival
Alanya is ready to welcome the world again. The 23rd Alanya International Culture, Art and Tourism Festival returns from May 23–25, 2025, celebrating creativity, tradition, and unity under the theme of “Neighbourhood” (Komşuluk).
This three-day cultural showcase brings together local heritage, global talent, and community spirit, all set against the stunning Mediterranean backdrop of Alanya.
A Festival Rooted in Community
Embracing the Theme: “Neighborhood”
This year’s theme, “Neighborhood,” reflects a desire to reconnect in an age of growing social isolation. Inspired by the Turkish Language Association’s concept of “loneliness in crowds,” the festival promotes genuine connection—locally and globally.
A Meaningful Launch
The official press event was held in a historic house in Alanya Castle’s Tophane District, symbolising the warmth of Turkish hospitality. Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik emphasised the city’s future: “We aim to build a recognisable, branded Alanya in the next 7–8 years,” he said, highlighting the importance of culture in shaping the city’s identity.
From Local to International: A Festival’s Evolution
Humble Beginnings
What started in the 1990s as a local celebration has grown into a globally recognised event. Previously known as a “şenlik” (celebration), it now spans multiple venues and draws thousands of visitors, making it a cornerstone of cultural tourism in the region.
Cultural Powerhouse
Today, the Alanya Festival blends Turkish heritage with international arts, music, food, and performance. According to Mayor’s Advisor Abdurrahman Açıkalın, this transformation reflects Alanya’s evolving global role.

Galleries, public squares, and even historic sites like the Alanya Castle and Red Tower become living museums. Artists from Turkey and abroad exhibit paintings, sculptures, photography, and digital installations that explore identity, environment, and community.
Global Cultural Exchange
Cultural delegations from dozens of countries showcase music, dance, crafts, and traditions. Joint performances and artist collaborations bring a unique blend of Turkish and global flavours to Alanya.
Flavours of the Festival
Turkish Cuisine Meets the World
Festival-goers can enjoy local delicacies such as pide, mezes, and pistachio lemonade (fıstıklı limonata). International pavilions offer global dishes, creating a cross-cultural feast for the senses.
Culinary Fusion Events
Chefs from different cultures collaborate in live cooking shows, crafting dishes that blend tradition and innovation, always a crowd favourite.
Why It Matters
Boosting Alanya’s Economy
Held in the shoulder season, the festival boosts hotels, restaurants, and local businesses. With 100% hotel occupancy rates during the event, it’s a major economic driver.
