• Admiral Osman Pasha, born in 1792 and raised as a galleon soldier, served as the chief of galleys in the Egyptian Navy between 1825 and 1830. Then he returned to Istanbul and entered the service of the Ottoman Navy. He served as the commander of the Ottoman Fleet in the Sinop Raid during the Crimean War.
