What Is the Beach Pro Tour Challenge?

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is the global elite professional beach volleyball circuit. The FIVB organises it, and 2026 marks its fifth edition. The tour runs three competitive tiers: Futures, Challenge, and Elite. It ends with The Finals, where the ten best teams in the world compete. The Challenge tier is where top athletes fight hard for world ranking points. Every match counts, and the competition level is outstanding.

In 2026, Alanya hosts the sixth of seven Challenge stops on the global calendar. Athletes from dozens of countries compete across both the men’s and women’s draws.

The Venue – Alanya International Beach Sports Centre

The Alanya International Beach Sports Centre stands out for its sustainable architecture and international-standard infrastructure. It runs 365 days a year without interruption. The facility starts with 12 courts and can expand to 26 for major events. The main court seats 2,200 spectators, the second court holds 600, and total capacity across all courts reaches around 4,000.

Furthermore, the venue operates with a zero carbon footprint. Its seating colours draw inspiration from Alanya’s local character — avocados, oranges, and sunshine. In addition, the FIVB and the Turkish Volleyball Federation built this centre specifically to make Alanya a year-round hub for sports tourism.

This is not a seasonal venue. Instead, it remains active year-round. Alanya’s sports calendar already includes triathlon, beach handball, beach football, and cycling tournaments throughout the year. As a result, the Beach Sports Centre ranks among the busiest beach sports facilities in Europe.

Alanya’s History in Beach Volleyball

Alanya has deep roots in this sport. The city first held a national beach volleyball event in 1992. Then it hosted an international tournament in 1993, followed by a World Tour event in 1996. Therefore, Alanya is one of the most experienced beach volleyball hosts in Europe and the Middle East.

Moreover, the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Challenge marked the first time Turkey hosted such a high-level FIVB event. Organizers immediately confirmed Alanya as the host city for the next three years. Additionally, Alanya has committed to hosting Beach Pro Tour events through 2028. The city is also in active discussions with the FIVB about the 2027 U21 World Championship and the 2028 U18 World Championship.

Who Will Be Competing?

The player lineup is exceptional. Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Lisboa of Brazil will compete. So will world champions Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova of Latvia. Top-ranked American pair Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher also join the field. Besides these established stars, young talent from around the world competes for career-changing ranking points.

Tips for Visitors

Matches start in the morning and run until the evening. Finals typically take place in the late afternoon for the best atmosphere. Arrive early to get a good seat on the main court. The venue offers food stands, drinks, and a lively festival feel. Consequently, it works well for families and groups of all ages. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes for a full day on the sand.

While you are in Alanya, visit the historic Alanya Castle and the iconic Red Tower. Book a boat tour along the Mediterranean coast or take a day trip to the ancient city of Side. Staying a few extra days around the tournament is absolutely worth it.

How to Watch Online

You do not need to be in Alanya to enjoy the action. VBTV, Volleyball World’s dedicated streaming platform, broadcasts all Beach Pro Tour Elite and Challenge events live. Fans anywhere in the world can follow every match. Meanwhile, D-Smart brings live coverage to viewers across Turkey directly from the Mediterranean coast.

Why Alanya Is Becoming Europe’s Beach Sports Capital

Alanya is clearly moving in one direction: upward. The city is building toward becoming the Mediterranean’s leading destination for Olympic beach sports. A modern eco-certified venue, a sunny Mediterranean climate, a sporting history going back to 1992, and a committed local government all point to the same conclusion. Alanya delivers. The June 10–14 tournament offers warm days, calm seas, and a city that genuinely knows how to host the world.
